Found this little gem while X-mas tree chopping yesterday. A Colson skiptooth trike...pretty cool. Solid rubber tires...all there except the seat had a vinyl cover on it, so I don't know what's under that. Anybody seen one before? Had a $40 dollar tag on it...pretty much being sold to park in in a yard and hang a flower basket off it. I might have to save it from that situation...

If i would have saw that tricycle, it would have came home with me.$40 is a real good price. If shipping weren't gonna be so high, I'd figure out a way to get it myself. That would be really neat winter project. Go get it!!!

so you got the tree instead. :? dude, you gotta get your priorities strait!

Dude $40 for that is a great deal just as a shop ornament. That thing is awesome, never saw one before so I have no idea what it's worth but for $40 I'd grab it up in a heartbeat.

Well I had the wife with so.....had to go with the tree, but I haven't stopped thinkin' 'bout that sucker...(little worried about that, honestly). I'm going back to get it.

Got it!!....I've already cut the solid tires off of it...those things are heavy! I think I'm going to saw-zall the down tube and stretch it, then put ape hangers....pffft...grrrk....ok, I can't type with with a straight face anymore, and I'm pretty sure the lynch mob is forming...I was just joking.

Seriously, the grand-daughter is gonna have a vintage ride. My question to you folks is this...what would you do? Full resto or just a general clean and lube and keep the general ambiance? I'm open to ideas and opinions. It's not going to be a wall hangar, it needs a kid peddling it in the Spring...thanks!

Man, those are cool little tricyles. the last Colson I saw like that was going for $75 I think it was.

How is the grand-daughter? If she old enough to help you pick out the colors, I'd paint it up the way she'd like it.
I always thought it would be cool to replace the tires & wheels on one of these trike with pneumatic tires & wheels.

The paint looks to be original...there some rust going on, just surface stuff. I'm wanting to keep the solid tires but thinking about fabbing a jig to "lathe" a more uniform profile on them. The girly is too small to be paint pickin'...probably want to keep it neutral for handing down to future boy or girl driveway pilots.

I'd re-upholster the seat, maybe some new grips to match the seat, and clean it up but keep the original paint and patina. Try some Nu Finish and buff it back to life.

As near as I can tell from today's research it's a mid 40's model....that's also using the guys age who sold it to me as a factor (it was his as a kid). I saw that one on CL...$300 bucks (+ $200 for shipping) with new pneumatic wheels on it! The gene pool is at low tide again...

Just found my Colson trike in the attic while getting the Christmas stuff down. There is also a sheet metal aero trike up there.
