Slingshot stem - How to stop bars slipping?

Hiy'all - Anyone got any tricks or tips? I don't have any bars that 'officially' fit - but then we don't take too kindly to officially round hereabouts anyways.
I know you can buy a knurling tool but they're not in my budget for a one-off. Although now that I'm typing this all out , maybe I could take them to a motorbike workshop? Love to hear your ideas anyway.

If it makes any difference, the bars I'm wanting to use I think might be old dirt bike bars with just the centre knurling.

Dremel tool to texture the clamping/clamped area?

And c'mon, don't be a tease, mentioning a slingshot stem and motorcycle bars, and NOT providing a picture?

Take a center punch and create a series of dimples around the bars under the clamp area.

If they're slipping because they are undersized, add some shim material (aka strip cut from a soda can).

Here is a trick for you. Put some fine sanding paper there, like 800 grit or so. It provides extra friction. Done it to a couple of clients bikes and it worked like magic.

Do you mean sand it to rough it up, or use the sandpaper as a shim?

Exactly, use it as a shim.

Sometimes if you use carbon fiber assembly paste, that helps..
