Ok so I've had a two speed Bendix up for sale on craigslist for a while with little to no response, probably because I am one of those crazy guys trying to get what it is worth. I finally get a call form a guy who is serious and has money. He comes over to pick it up and was so happy to get it he paid me 10$ more than I asked. We where talking for a bit and he says that he had one as a kid that he used to ride in the repack races when he was with the lark spur canyon gang. Wait I said, you mean you are one of the original klunkers? he replies ya, you know about us. I was excited he spent about twenty minutes with me telling me his experience and history and how he is building another bike to relive his youth. When he left I looked up his name from the email and it was Harvey O, and yes he is in the mountain bike hall of fame! What a trip to have a guy like this at my house buying parts. My wife doesn't get it but I know you guys will.

That is awesome; i love that movie, and I think the early years of "mountain biking" are fascinating. what was the going price for that hub, just out of curiosity?

$80 seems fair to me... But only someone who actually knows what a Bendix kicback is would pay it...and few "typical" ppl have even a clue...

It's funny; you wouldn't have known what a klunker was without this site, and I never would've found this site if I hadn't been researching klunker bikes.

You're right; that's too low. I find that with a lot of stuff that's old and elusive, it's worthwhile to hold out for the asking price.
