I actually asked a guy once what he was thinking. It wasn't as crazy as this sounds, but he wanted like $500 for a bike that was worth maybe $100. I told him what I thought the bike was worth. He said "yep, I know that, but not everyone does". I mean it's worth what someone is willing to pay and it only takes one uninformed soul to make a sale.

What's great is that on American Pickers they actually bought a 28" Elgin woodrim that was fully restored and rideable from an extremely knowledgeable old dude for 250.

I have one of these one of a kind bikes in a little nicer shape,but mine is a 1952 Hawthorne but just like this one. I only paid $75 for mine. I also have one that was used as yard art. I guess I ought to think about selling one of mine if they are going for $1000.
