The pair of Collegiates that I recently picked up are missing their front axle hardware. Not the cones, but the mounting nuts themselves and the centering rings that Schwinn lightweights often have (used with the keyhole slot in the fork leg). The nuts are M8x1 thread, I'm sure I can find those somewhere even if they aren't Schwinn approved. But the centering rings have me a little stumped. I guess I could make something, but I'd rather have the correct parts. Does anyone know where find those?

I think I have those centering rings. I always thought they were to keep the axle from dropping out of the fork if the nuts came loose. Anyway, I'll check my parts tonight and let you know.

I apologize, it totally slipped my mind and I forgot to look last night. I'll do my best to remember to check tonight after work.

No, those aren't it. What I'm talking about is basically a collar with a flange on it. Should be about 10mm in diameter, IIRC, maybe 3 or so tall, with an 8mm through hole, and the flange itself would be, I'd guess 13-14mm in diameter. The collar goes into the larger part of the keyhole shape in the end fork end. The narrower slot part is large enough to clear the axle, and then the collar slides over the axle to center it within the larger diameter. This does, I expect, prevents the axle from dropping out if the nuts are loose. But it does make it kind of a pain to assemble.

I'll take a picture of the ones on my Varsity later.

What I'm looking for is probably better described as a centering washer, as it really is a washer stamped with a raised ridge on the inner diameter. My previous measurement estimates are pretty close, but I didn't state the outside diameter before (19 mm). Here's a picture of the part:

And on the axle, its under the main washer:
