Didn't ride it too much cause I don't trust the dryrotted tires, but come Tuesday it's getting new rubber and some other goodies!

Re: Spacelioner-a Sunday afternoon project

Thanks, it's the first skinny tire ratrodbike I've built. Can't wait to really try it out! 8)

Re: Spacelioner-a Sunday afternoon project

Well, the skinny tires just weren't working for me so back to the lab! I built up a fat tire 3 speed wheel and cleaned of the fenders I got from tlaing1, added the gold pedals and the newer seat and grips. Next are whitewalls, or blackwalls and a kickstand that works! 8)

Re: Spacelioner-a Sunday afternoon project

Had it out for it's first ride and banana'd the seatpost. I guess nobody makes a strong long 13/16ths seatpost. I remember reading in the forum abouthow someone filled a seatpost with a hardwood dowel to keep it from bending. I'll let you know the results.

Here she is. I saw the rack at my LBS and had to have it, since it seems to flow well with the lines of the frame. Now if I can keep the seatpost from bending... 8)

I just lucked out and found an old heavy duty post at a local hole-in-the-wall shop. http://rinienterprises.com/ sells the older 5/8" clamp area Walds, as well as the type you have. They also have fluted aluminum versions. I've never had one, but I've heard that they're pretty strong. :|
