Sprocket and guard question

hey everyone on im curious i've seen star sprockets on here .. the ones that have about 5 cut out of them im wondering what bikes are they off from ? and does anyone know where i could find a decent cool looking chain guard for my 49 schwinn 26" that wont cost me a arm and a leg ill settle for a repop

The sprockets are off of roadmaster bikes and as far as the chaingaurd I got mine of of ebay for a little over $10 including shipping from a lady in Ohio, If I can find her i.d. I'll foward it to you.

Didn't Schwinn use a similar one on the Flying Star models? Late 50's-E60's?

Nope I think they all had sweetheart sprockets

AMF bought Shelby around 1954 as well as Cleveland Welding, so late 50s early 60s Roadmasters and near identical Shelby badged bikes used the stars sprocket.~Adam

Okay Jen, here are some guards to look at. First two, an old Phantom guard with no brackets...make your own, and a middleweight Speedster guard. Both are for 26" bikes and will fit your '49..

Third one is a nice Schwinn Deluxe guard that has been bead blasted and primed. A few minor dents but otherwise real nice. Will also fit your 26" '49

I want $5 each for the Phantom and Speedster guards and $20 for the primed guard. PayPal only. Shipping will be $10 each, but if I can send them cheaper I will return any shipping overage via PayPal. Gary
