I can’t begin to describe how upset Stacey is with me that I’ve neglected her mom for so long. So I’m way overdue for more structural mods and cosmetic surgery.
Setup and prep for adding strut mounts and reinforcing the swing-arm.
Adding plates to the dropouts for rear strut attachment points.
Gusset to strengthen swing-arm.
Forward strut attachment points.

My Hobart welds so much better than my Harbor Freight cheapie.

Reinforced the upper mounts and finished welding the rear tabs and gusset.
I wanted to hide this mess where the frame was cut apart and some less than beautiful cheapie welding occurred.
I cut a piece from an old bookend and welded it over. Much tidier.
It’s 101 right now and working out in the driveway bites. After lunch I’ll see if I can make more progress. I think we’re likely to see 105 this afternoon. But this is sure a fun project!

I have the same cheapo welder seems to do a better job if you're welding something thicker where you don't have to worry about burning thru.
Good to see you jumping back on Stacy's Mom.
Got the upper strut balls screwed in.
Then I was able to locate and drill holes to mount the rear ends.
It looks really cool.
Stacy's Mom looks great strutting her stuff!
Slapped on some essential parts and it sits really nice in the high position. Trouble is it won’t compress to chopper position. If I move the rear attachments further back and up i wonder if that will change the leverage enough to let it compress.

On the bright side, now you don't have to choose which position to take your final vote picture.
Okay, those lift struts are available in many lengths. They also are available in different pressures. Pressure should be listed on the strut. Maybe a search for the same strut with a lower pressure?
I checked the Amazon page I ordered from and they do have lighter weights in this length. These are 120 psi, I think I'll try the 100 psi and see if that helps.
Make an adjustable rocker link, so you can set it where it works, instead of ordering more struts.
Almost dropped back to page 2 slacker status. Man the time flies when you’re busy. Finally got some time for bikes this afternoon. 
It cooled off a few degrees today but still hit 103. No time for a full assembly and testing so it’s off to my professional paint booth to try to get this thing looking a little better. I haven’t gotten to the store to shop for paint so I had to use some leftovers.
I stripped the rust and gunk off the forks and discovered that the pipe I used to extend the tubes is made out of real steel. Cool.
Did a little prep work, not too much. If I end up liking this bike I’ll blow it apart and do a nice metal flake or something. Silver metallic looks much better for now.
