I am going to try a gardening knee pad the next time i tryRoad around to Target, Michaels, Joann Fabrics, and finally Walmart looking for the right high density padding to use for padding on the nanner. @Dr. Tankenstein had told me that he had used yoga mats before.
The first one I found was way to thin even though I could have layered it up.

But I think this exercise mat from wally world will work just fine and still have plenty of mat left for my Pilates.

Actually after seeing the striped high back Troxel on this Aerobee, I don't think I am going to use the exercise mat at all. I remember now that too many times I have seen people pad up seat recovers to make them comfy, but in the process, the beautiful lines of the seat are lost. If you look how great the steep curve of this seat looks with minimal padding you'll see why I don't want to over do it with padding.
It was perfect timing with the rain. I got exactly the amount of painting that I could have done today. Good thing that I took off a little early from work.
Pulled out the frame this morning to see how the metallic silver first coat looked. I like it and so did the fish.
The paint on the frame and parts just didn't seem quite cured enough for sanding with 1000 grit to prep for the 2nd coat of metallic silver, so I decided to break down the banana seat.
I filleted the padding away from the top pan.
Then I took my wire wheel grinder to the rust. I knew there was a small split near the front but forget to dodge it with the wheel. It snagged it up a little bit.
Had to break out my cobblers anvil and ball peen hammer to shape it back in place.
Finished cleaning it up along with the bottom pan.

Top pan cleaned and painted up well.

Had to remove the rust that was stuck to the old cushion. I will be reusing this padding for the seat.
I got this dimmer switch foot in a trade with @ctacruiser years ago and have never found the right use for it yet. I noticed it when I moved some stuff around today and headbadge popped in my head.
So I wire wheeled, scraped and sanded it.
You can see it is a great size for a headbadge.
So I threw some of the VHT Burnt Copper on it
And later when it was dry and before I started sanding the frame for it's 2nd coat, I did this rough taped on mockup to see if I like it. It makes it past the first pass. Of course it would be much closer to the headtube. I also need to make sure it will clear the fork spring bracket. It was also cool seeing some of the Coppertone-ish paint with the metallic silver.

By the end of the day, I had a 2nd coat of silver on all the parts and the frame. The 2nd coat really made a difference in the look of the frame and parts. I decided to paint the top pan of the seat flat black and the bottom of the bottom pan with the VHT Burnt Copper. The Carbon Mist pieces never quite cured enough for sanding yet.
So you're saying that the gold fish approved the silver paint by the Kingfish? And you made a fillet out of the padding? Dang. Did I miss Friday fish fry again?

The backdrop for these photos is QueenFish's courtyard. This is her baby and she hates it when I mess it up with bicycle photos.
She's had it on multiple tours, in magazines, in the newspaper, and even had a few artists ask to paint it as their subject. I will pass on all of the compliments. It is a great place to sit back and relax and not even realize that you are in the middle of downtown Savannah.
Here is the painting that we have hanging in our hallway. You can see the koi pond on the left and the doors to my shop on the first floor of our 1873 Carriage House.

You should sharpie in a bike leaning on the fountain on the painting. That way the Queen will have to let you do your bike stuff there.
