I need to replace the stem on my Dyno Cruiser with one from Redline, what size do I need to order. Thanks for your help, Dave.

Exactly, the measurement for the "quill" of the stem (the part that goes down into the fork steerer) is normally stamped with a size like 21.8 or 22.2 or something. This is in millimeters, so you can also measure with a caliper either the outside of the quill or inside the fork steerer.

You also need to make sure that the clamp part matches the bars you are putting on, most handlebars are 7/8", but some are shimmed where they clamp to 1".

Why from Redline? Are you changing the fork/headset, too? I suspect your frame takes a1 1/8" threaded, ikn which case i dont think redline makes stems like that anymore.

This is 2013, Yooth. Outside of BMX, very few bars are 7/8". Even motorcycles have largely moved to 31.8mm (1 1/4"). 1" and 26.0mm bars are still ubiquitous, though. Most of mine are 25.4 mm (1")...consistent with most cruisers (aside from bmx)

Also this is Rat Roe bikes where we play with old and weird things. Haha What I was trying to say (with only a knowledge of old bikes) was, measure before you buy.

Yeah, you still gotta go back reallly far to get with the 7/8" bars. 1" took over before you and i were born.

But, yeah, measure before you buy. If you're buying new, measurements should be in the description.

I mess with a lot of BMX stuff.

That's a good policy. Builds character, and in your case, it shows. I voted for your off-roadmaster, despite my intense concern for that ill-fated seatpost. If it breaks on the trail and leads to your demise, I will head south & deferentially place my bent red fluted 7/8" aluminum seatpost on your grave, as your widow might do with flowers...

Of The 3 dyno's i have (2 ultra glides and a duece) the glides are 1 1/8 threadless and the duece is 1" threaded, but all 3 used 7/8" clamps on bars. Either way most bmx stems are 7/8" clamps anyhoo. Will be harder to find a 7/8 quill stem tho. You shud put a GT stem on it imho. The stock dyno h-bars will be 7/8 clamping areas, aftermarket bars prolly will be 1".

I still buy new 7/8" cruiser bars. I did recently have to buy a 1" BMX stem to use some Nirve bars on one bike. If you want a good selection of both sizes check out http://www.statussuspension.com.

I will place pictures of my scar from a RED FLUTED SEAT POST, on the tombstone. BTW, what would the inscription read???
Here lies Youthy, took one for the guys!

Anyway Dyno bars are 7/8th, I use an adapter quill and have mad choices for BMX style or MTB style stems. Most recently I put a "Casket," made by Primo on a cruiser for less than $30.00, all off e-bay. Word of caution, check with the seller that the adapter is 1" threaded to 1 1/8th, seems to get confusing for sellers to list correctly? Anyway you don't want to send 2 back like I did..........
