Stingray or fastback

Hi, I'm thinking of building a stingray or fastback from a frame.Did they make more stingrays or fastbacks? Thinking about what parts may be more available. Thanks Hildemire

Other than wheels, frames, fenders, and a few small items. Fastbacks and Sting-Rays shared a large number of parts.
Fastbacks were made from 1966 to 1976. Stingrays came out in mid-1963 and ran until 1982 or 83. There were also Asian-made versions throughout the 80's and the replicas that are still available now. Factor in the amount of girl's versions and I think you have your answer.

If you want to build a fastback, I have a set of Schwinn S-6's with a Sturmey Archer 3-speed hub. They still have original fastback tires on them, but the tires are shot. Do not have a shifter.

you will see more stingrays than you will see fastbacks in my experience

Thanks for the info I'm picking up a fastback frame tommorrow. If a frame is dated 1970 is it that year model or a 1971.

depends what month it was made in. if its earlier in the year, like jan thru sept, it was probably sold that year. but nov to dec usually didnt get sold/put together till the following year.
