Yeah the skiff has a 6.8l straight six John Deere. It’s also about the worst boat in the world for just about anything other than it’s purpose of towing the Seiner around in Circles...

Looks like I need to blow the crud out of the tubes otherwise I can kiss the bearings goodbye, the BB was worse!

Crud and rust on the inside of the bearings that’s coming out of the seat stays and head/bottom/seat tubes, not good! I’ve already sort of started to wipe off the BB but just remembered to take photos. Not stoked!

Spray some Boeshield T-9 inside the frame now that it's free and clear, or use some Frame Saver inside to prevent further rusting.

so I tapped on the frame with a rubber mallet and got all the crud out then I sprayed some PB blaster chain lube with Teflon all throughout the tubes and now I am using some goof off to get some of the tar off that’s in random spots all over the frame like this...

We’re doing a Father’s Day ride tomorrow so I figured that would work on the inside until I got the other stuff.

Morro Strand Rat is back together and ready for shakedown part II, tar removed and linseed oil is applied. I also figured out I had set-up the BB wrong so I fixed that and my chain is now in a mostly straight line. Next week I’ll show y’all how to install and remove these types of cranks without purchasing the Profile tool. Oh and another name change perhaps “MS-Rat”???
