I've been riding a fixed gear that I built last winter/spring...
But I love coaster brakes...

I found this vintage road bike at the dump.
I am constantly amazed/perplexed at the things people throw away...
It's a Falcon, made from Reynolds 531 tubing, it has campagnolo dropouts.

The tange fork, unfortunately is torched.
I've had a hard time sourcing new chrome forks that are 700c or 27",
that aren't $100.

I ordered a 700c wheelset that is Sun CR18's laced to formula hubs.
The rear is a fixed/free hub, but I bought a black shimano coaster brake, that I'll have to lace in.

With the help of my neighbor and his oxy acetylene torch,
I de-brazed some of the cable guides, braze ons, etc.
probably going to grind off derailleur hangers, and eyelets as well.
Cleaned up the brass with a file...

I don't know if it will line up, or if I'll have chainline issues...
I also saw a new sugino crankset online, that I've had my eye on
but I don't know if I want to spend the money...

Coaster brake is now wired in... Just waiting on some tires, and I ended up ordering a new fork...

The best thing to keep a build going, is to have parts arrive every couple of days...
The tires came today, cream Schwalbe delta cruisers 700c x 35 (without the reflective stripe)
bought some tubes and rim tape on the way home from work.

Fork is ordered... Still need a lot of parts though, seat, post, pedals, headset, bars, stem, chain, grips, bottom bracket,....
I plan on stripping the frame, and repainting, but not sure if I should stay with the original color or not.
I did find a place to get the original decals, so those will go back on.

I think all the colors are looking good together as is, when i see cream colored tires I usually think of metallic brown or olive green for some reason. I'm sure you got it covered on your own though

Thanks for all the positive comments...
I got the fork today, and it will not work with my tires...
I bought a 700c fork and the bigger tires fit fine width wise, but they are to tall...
I'll need to find a 27" fork.

Nice looking build. What was wrong with the original forks? It just looks like some rust in the pic.

Yes, I got the fork from niagara... My 700c x 23 tires fit in the fork, but the 35 delta cruisers
have a much taller profile.
