I was reading up on converting a 3 or 4 speed Sturmey hub into a fixed 2 or 3 speed. The photos and information are kind of rough and vague. Has anyone accomplished this project and have some nice detailed info?

I assume you have read this... http://sheldonbrown.com/awfixed.html and all the links.

you could always buy a new one.

+1. I don't know anything about the conversion, beyond what Sheldon describes. If it were my time/money/hassle, I think I'd buy a s3x and call it a day.

Regarding the AW 3spd to 2spd fixed project, Sheldon said:
If this is not clear to you, you don't know enough about Sturmey-Archer hubs to undertake this advanced project.
That certainly describes my understanding of the project, and I've found that following Sheldon's advice makes sense, at least 90% of the time.
