Well, as usual, I just can't leave well enough alone. This is one I built for my son a few months ago, a '66 Schwinn Panther. Since it's mostly been sitting around - with me looking at it - I couldn't help myself and started puttering around with it today.
Added fatter tires, took off the front fender, slapped on the taillight, put the Brooks back on, and added a titanium flat bar from my first mtn. bike.
I'm kinda diggin' it. Strangely enough, it's pretty darned comfortable, too.

THAT is sweet. Your son should consider himself a very lucky young man.

Well thanks guys, that's quite a reception!

Hammond Eggz,
Your son is the owner of one sweet ride!
I would LOVE to build a 1966 (my birth year) Schwinn Middleweight. Will the Panther frame/fork fit a 24 x 3 tire ( I suffer from short legs - long arms disease  )

Cheers!

You know, I'm really not sure, but I'm thinking probably not without some tweaking. I'm running 26 X 2.35 Fat Franks on my '69 Panther, and it's a pretty tight fit on the rear. The front's no big deal because I'm running a springer fork.
