Picked this up today at the local swap and shop. She's rough, but fairly complete. It appears there was once a light or something. The head has a bracket on the back, and is very well rusted/pitted. Must of held water there for a long time.
No headbadge, or any markings that I can find. Any ideas on brand and age?

Thanks,
Jules

For sure, it is an early to mid sixties Murray made Spaceliner type bike. these were sold as "JC Penny Foremost, Ostaco Flying O, Fleetwing Mariner, Space liner, Fleet liner(?), Flight liner, meteor flite, space flite, Jc Higgins (many as mark mentioned :D ) and under others as well.

Banker,
That's darn near a spot on match. Color even looks to be the same. Grips are about the only thing differing, other than the obvious tank. One other thing. Looks like they have the same chainrings, however your pic seems to have an extra decroative piece riding on the outside, centered on the ring??

Thanks all, for the input.

Regards,
Jules

ida guessed jch, sears, western flyer or murray whenever i see that chainring. didn't know about the jc pennies knock off version. guess i really do learn something new everytime im here. nice project bike by the way, jules.

Ya that "decorative:" ring is just that... decorative. It is made of plastic and it screws onto the chainring. Just like the Spaceliners. Here is a Spaceliner with one

I believe only Murray baged bikes used that chainguard with the lil divots running all the way down. I have an identical JC Higgins frame downstairs, but it has a chainguard similar to early 60's Schwinns. Also have one o those fancy guards, and it says Meteor flite, or something Flite on it, Murray names. ~Adam

I've seen it on a fleetwing before too... and a western flyer...

yep they sure did. and even the sears ones did. they got a few different options, but all murray-built. so it's almost impossible to say that this part only come on one brand, when that may be true for certain years, but I'm pretty sure that they switched it up every couple of years so it would stay fresh. like one year the western flyers had this chainguard and fleetwings had that one, but then the next year they traded. kept it from getting stagnate, ya know.
