Tall Bike Rider - Short Video

We met a very nice fellow with a Tall Bike at the Hotter'n Hell Hundred event last week-end.

He did a short ride for my camera.

Whoa I can't believe the fork holds up. Sure wouldn't want to hit a curb.

funny you say that.
he told us that the welds broke about a week ago, and he said he went straight down and landed standing up!

Two of my tall bikes use a fork like that. Mine are about that height too. I section a bmx fork, add in conduit, then add another tube in the center, leaving room for the tire. I then use smaller tubing perpendicular to the larger tubes welded to connect the three fork tubes. That keeps it more rigid. I popped my first fork on a curb, that's why I added the center tube.

yeah, I would have welded a cross brace in there too, especially at the top welds, since they already broke once!
