I'm completely new to the Bike Building scene. I picked up an old Hawthorne since I've wanted to get into bikes and it gives me something to play with when my VW its frustrating me. I then named it "Tet" which is short for Tetanus, since its more rust than bicycle

Here's how It arrived.

Since then i've tweaked some things. I got the chainguard out getting pinstriped, I flipped the handlebars(not sure if i'm gonna keep it this way), and chopped the seat down by 2 inches. Now i'm having trouble getting the chain properly tight. Gonna work on it tomorrow on my day off.

I then added white walls and now i'm working on little things

The plan for this bike is to ride around casually, take it with me to car shows, and such other things.

Thanks!

I'm still looking for handle bar ideas. I have lots of options but i'm looking for something rusty, to match the rest of the bike.

Sick of the crappy house paint green.

Decided to take it off, looks like the person who painted it tried to prep some of the frame then gave up and just painted over it all. So its now become my Rat Rod bike:

I'll get some more tomorrow of it alone....Hopefully.

I'm getting pretty close to being happy with it....just got a few more accessories i'd like to get(finding good rusty stuff can be hard!)

She rides nice :
