A few of us Texans are on here.
My wife and I had this fire come within a mile of our house.
"Hickman, Midland County
Burnt area: 16,500acres
Size change: (24 hours) 0
Containment cost to date: $81K
Containment Status: 100% contained"
They had to evacuate the entire south side of city, they had air tankers and oilfield trucks full of water shooting south all day long. The past two weeks the smoke has been almost non stop, the San Angelo fires reduced visibility for us to less a mile. Our lack of rain has been making records. "Texas usually receives up to 15 inches of rain a year but in the last six months it has seen just 13-hundredths of an inch in the west of the state". I really cant remember the last time it rained. Compared to what California goes through its not that bad i guess? but its been crazy for us.
