Yea, I did some stupid stuff on it, rode down staircases, jumped off ledges, 9'' of suspension soaked it all up. Unfortunately it got stolen and haven't seen it since. Was a hoot to ride though with the smooth tires, felt like riding a cadillac, both in weight and smoothness of ride.

This is how a Jawa can be easily amused...

Klunkers are typically old cruiser frames with knobby tires and other MTB adaptations, right? Well, in trying for a lower-rolling resistance tire on my mountain bike for when I ride it on local stone dust paths, I've done the inverse.

I used a set of Schwinn Typhoon cord repops I had. The smooth tread definately rolls easier, and the rounder tread cross section makes for a narrower contact too. Plus, the white walls actually look pretty cool on the white rims against the olive paint.

On one of my klunkers I have white wall street tires. Been using them for about 5 years. On a klunker you can only go so fast, poor brakes, heavy, rigid, etc. So street tited are fine on single track, no slipping on dusty corners. But wet is a different animal, wheel spin on climbing roots and rocks, otherwise doable.

$100 Walmart Kent Thruster single speed for spring riding. 700c by 1.75 mountain bike tires instead of the original 38 mm urban tread, different crank, mostly plastic linear pull brakes replaced with cantilevers, old 10 speed steel bars with suicide riser brake levers and a more comfortable seat. Garbage bike updated from my junk stash. This is my I don’t care what the salt does slush bike. As you can see I just leave it in my truck bed and drive it to some rideable slush covered roads. I use it before the dark asphalt absorbs enough sun to melt off, but a fat bike is overkill yet you don’t need studs. It was used about three weeks and then I started riding my gravel bike, and after another month road, cruisers and mountain bikes. Soon it will be the ice bike with studded tires, then the fatty and the cycle starts again.

I've been riding this beauty two seasons now. It's a 2017 SE OM Duro. Changed it up a bit to my liking. I put some Schwalbe Super Moto X tires on to replace the Vee Knobby tires and sold those off new out of the box. No point in hanging on to tires that will just dry up. Put a blue Brookes saddle on to spice things up. Changed out the peddles and grips too.
