One of my twin daughters wants to go biking with me, but, she doesn't like shifting all those gears and wants to keep it simple. OK, how about a 3-speed, "sure," says she. So, put together this heap so she could see if she likes a 3-speed before I plunk down some major bucks for a good one. It will have the inaugural ride soon and results will be posted here.

Sort of a scratch, trash pile mountain bike frame, laced in the 3-speed hub, and put some new peddles on it, surprised the heck outta me that it actually works! I scoured the RatRod site for tips and tricks on this and that, the bank of knowlege here is priceless, saved me time and bucks.

Any progress on this build @54shadow?

Luke.
All done, the daughter likes it. The purpose behind the build was that my daughter wanted to get a bike to ride when I rode the bike trail. To save her some "buyer's remorse," investing in a new bike, whipped this one together as a tester, she likes, now, maybe she will forego spending her hard earned cash and just use this one. Thanks for checking, Luke. Oh, I am building a Steampunk bike for a client in New Mexico, will post some pics here soon.

Nice cheap build. Glad your daughter likes it.

I'd like to see what you do for a steampunk build.
Love steampunk and I have a friend that is obsessed with it and makes & sells a lot of steampunk art at a gallery. Been trying to talk him into helping me make a bike.

Here are a few pics posted to Pinterest, will post some here soon, held off due to the build-off comp. http://www.pinterest.com/1954shadow/steampunk-project/

That bike turned out really nice. Glad to hear your daughter has been riding it and that she likes the bike. It still amazes me what nice rides can be made from just random parts.
