Had some extra money in my account (and having just submitted my tax return today  ) I couldn't help but to be drawn in by the temptation of the Walmart cruiser devil who talked me into a 2012 Schwinn Breeze 26' men's cruiser for like $150. Saw the cool retro chainguard, rear carrier, brown tires and fork trusses and just couldn't resist  .

Had them ship it site to store and I will have it on the 15th

Now I just got to break it to the wife

Just checked it out online, you know what, with a set of blade forks and some deep fenders, it would be a decent looking bike. I kinda like the steel gray and cream color scheme also. Too bad a B6 tank wouldn't fit the frame, wonder if a slimeline style would though....hmmmm.....

Be sure to post some pics and a quality review when you get it.

Cheers,
Dr. T

Im not sure what i'm gonna do with it. I had the crazy thought to take the Nexus 3speed w/coaster wheel and shifter from my 05 Torker Boardwalk and swap out the single speed on the schwinn, but not sure on that yet. A big reason I choose it over say the Huffy Nel Russo or even the Pamana Jack, even though they are really cool looking, is that after the past two cranbrooks i've owned (a 09' and a 10') is that they just feel too cramped and the frame geometry (mainly the headtube angle and the seat being almost right over the cranks) is too "uptight". So if the frame geometry is anything like my 08' Schwinn Point Beach 7spd, and it looks like it is, then me and my new Breeze will get along just fine.

I need to check it out when I get it next week to see how I wanna "hot rod" it out. Being a Walmart bike, upgrading and customization are definatly in the near future. I dig the colored tires (brown or tan or ?) but a set of Flames may go good with it, or some Fat Franks (cream?). Sorry, but gonna keep the fenders, carrier and that cool chainguard on. The handlebars and seat are fair game for upgrades if i'm not feeling them, but they look good. And the fork trusses are a nice touch.

Definatley going to get up picts next week, and YES... the wife knows I bought it now. I think she's used to it by now.
Thanks for checking it out and i'm always up for suggestions from my Rat Rod family.

My girlfriend no longer lets me go to the bike section at walmart when she's with me. Which is odd, since I've never purchased a bike from there. Luckily she hates flea markets. So there I venture alone, and sneak bikes to the basement with no regard to the fact that I am a whipped sissy. Joke is on her when I tell her I traded someone on here for a bike frame that I paid cash for at the flea market. This site is like my bike-part laundering site.

But she somehow tolerates evrey room in my house looking like a backyard bike shop

Yeah, I have my two main daily driver cruisers (08 Schwinn Point Beach 7spd and a 96 Torker Boardkalk 3spd) in the living room in the corner. I moved her two cheapie mountain bikes from where MY computer is now, to next to my two cruisers. My den, or REAL CRUISER room has my 60' AMF skyrider and my 61' JCH deluxe, but now a 68' Schwinn racer 3speed has hound its way in there with them. And don't get me started on the four mountain bikes, 4 3speeds, two cruisers, 3 parts bikes and two trikes behind the house. All in all she is very understanding of me and my bikes as I am with her and her 5 spare parts computers in my bike room.

Men... God bless our wives, girlfriends and for some of you, mothers, for putting up with our obsessions. :D

Your devil seems to be a much nicer fellow than mine.

Then again...

...retro chainguard - check!
...rear carrier - check!
...brown tires - check!
...fork trusses - check!

Who could resist?

Still, pics or it didn't happen.

@roadmaster & ozzmonaut: count your blessings (bikewise). My bike is in the shed and even then it's: nag,nag,nag......
And I agree with our British collegue, where's them pics?

Got confirmation that it will be delivered to my local WM on the 15th, so I forsee picts by the 16th or 17th. Online was really the best way to find what I was looking for, all they stock are cranbrooks and lajollas (hate the first and allready own the 2nd). They also have a nice Schwinn Admiral 7speed touring woman's bike in white with a rear carrier, chainguard and red alloy wheels with 700c wheels, I am tempted to get my loving wife. But as soon as I get it put together, I will share some picts and maybe get a few ideas from you guys.
