I got started on this one last night. I was able to unearth some of the original schwinn stenciled work around the headtube. it came out nice and ratty. Swapped out the rims and tires, put on a nice Troxel seat, cleaned up the chubby white grips, changed out the stem. Unfortunately the fork was bent, but luckily I had a fork from a 1980 Typhoon that fit nicely. the only odd thing about it is the old fork was about 3 inches longer. Not sure why, they were both 26" forks...
I also threw on a rear rack. i think I am going to try and insert a wood deck on it. I'm still not sure what to do about the paint on the front fork. The mismatch kind od adds to the rattiness, but it would be nice if it matched. I'm just afraid if i try to match it, it will look like a cheesy faux patina.
