Yeah... The first rule of a "Scam" is that you got to be taking someone for something... Doesn't sound to me like they guy was trying to scam anyone.. Although "fishy" does sound about right.

I'll let you guys in on a little secret that has landed me a lot of these kind of deals. Any time I see a ad like that that is just to good to be true I offer more than the asking price. In this case I would have respond with an offer of $125- $150.... If the bike is what he said it was its worth three or four times that.... If you got there at it wasn't what he said it was.... you can still say.. "Hey, this isn't what you said it was.. but I'll still give you the $75" Or you can walk away... Point is if he reads all his emails before he starts calling people back.. Your the guy who is gonna get the call to come pick it up. If its worth the money don't cheap out... its still a great deal at twice his asking price and you'll have the bike ... I do this with tools all the time on craigslist and about 80% of the time it works... I mean come on.. If someone posted a $100 bill for sale for $25... Do you think it would be a bad deal to offer the guy $50 for it?

Probably correct on the scam part, I have emailed many bike collectors I know in the area and all had emailed the ad and all got no response(which always happens anyway, I get probably 3 responses to 10 items emailed about). So I guess I'll accept that as closure, It feels better if NOBODY got it

The only thing I see the person gaining if it was a scam is the e-mail addresses of bike people in his area.
