So... usually, people try to show their neighborhood in its best light... this is not that kind of tour . These pics are from a couple years ago.
Small town Oregon, in what used to be a timber county...there is still a timber industry, but it is a shadow of what it was. The following pics are what I have affectionately named, 'The Plains of Armageddon.' What it actually is, is the remnants of a timber yard rail station that has been shutdown and stripped 30-40 years ago...and nothing has been done with it since. This is Oregon's version of Detroit . Then, there is the other blight that afflicts our fair state... the homeless.
Nice bucolic start on the river at a RV park / boat ramp.
Couple hundred yards later. There have been a few starts at 'secret' pump tracks out here. One was pretty nice and lasted for several years. I believe it may have been wiped out by a mudslide...but it may have been destroyed by the county. It's hard to tell.
On top of an old train loading ramp.
Homeless set up stashes and shelters along the sides. It isn't uncommon to find large collections of obviously stolen items, shopping carts, worn out tents, drug paraphernalia...and plenty of stuff that shall not be named.
Old train bridge, now bum condos.
It's a beautiful state...but, it's got big problems that aren't getting much better.
