Happy day, I got a stolen bike back.
Mongoose Beast that I repainted in John Deere colors. Stolen last summer.
A friend saw it for sale on fbm and notified me. The seller actually responded and gave me a wrong address, Only off by a house. it was parked behind a local shelter along with a dozen other bikes. I called the police and they arrived right when the fbmlister unlocked it. Tried to sell it to me in front of the police. The sn matched what I reported when it was stolen so the police told me to take it and leave while they continued their "discussion" with the guy. There was a 2 foot crowbar hanging on the bike. The expensive yellow pinstrip seat was replaced, bmx bars instead of the mtb bars, a bit chipped up.
I took it on Ragbrai in 2014. Rode it 3 days, that was plenty and a major workout. The Beast wasn't really meant to be riden.
After that I painted it in the John Deere colors and took it to a few bike shows. Won best of show with it once.
