Take one Hawthorne frame from Ebay...

I kinda dug that orange frame with the racks. The Schwarthorne is pretty gnarly too.
 
Next - I carved out a tank out of a piece of an old pallet and added fenders and a basket. Viola, The Chinatown Express. 8)

Well it was way past due that this bike post got an update. It's hard to believe that I've had this bike in various forms for 15 years now! It's been ridden at the shore, around town and even in the fountain at Philadelphia! I gave it to a friend when I moved and thought I wouldn't have room for it but he returned it because it was too big for him and I'm glad he did. I made room. It's had bar changes and fender changes. It now sports 26" thick slicks, pinstriped fenders (Big thanks, Hot Rod Jen!) and apehangers. There is something about riding a sweet simple bike that makes me appreciate even more now. Ladies and gentlemen I present the Schwarthorne through the years!
