I have taken to referring to my Beast as the "Silk Purse", for what I trust are obvious reasons. This weekend, I put the finishing touches on it.
I centered the axle and spaced out the droupout so that all five cogs are usable on the 13/34 freewheel...
That gives me the same low gear on this bike that I have on my 29er hardtail. I also mounted the rack directly to the droupouts...
That made everything a lot more stable, and put the rack at a height where I can use my large Carradice saddlebag, or something similar.
"New" (1983) Simplex shifters rounded out final details...
Now, to hit the trail, a bit...
