yeah,
i think it's a roadmaster... i am afraid though, it looks small, could it be a 24"?

the higgins is the the same frame, i think, as Karfer's...

also, the guy usually is not over priced, but he's not dumb either :?

if i get these, they are keeping their patina... no repaints this time

OOOOOOH! I feel your pain. I couldn't pass those up. I'd have to sell a kidney or something.

Oh yes! they should stay just as they are.

Wow ....I wish had that struggle. Two magnificent bikes. The second one is unique especially with that chaingaurd.

Also I wish I had people emailing me.

How much is the JC higgins? You dont have to give me an address or email just the man's price. I need those chrome things under the tank! LMK thanks

Both the Schwinn Auto Cycle and some Shelby models from the early-mid 30's used a chain guard like what is on the second bike, so it is likely either from one of them or it could be from a third source which supplied them independently, or a replica that came out later. I bought one exactly like it off of ebay a year ago but haven't been able to determine it's authenticity because there's nothing on it which would officially declare it a Schwinn or Shelby product.

It's been sitting in my parts pile ever since Multiple Chemical Sensitivity pretty much ended my bike building hobby. If I knew everybody liked the style this much I would have put it up for bid in the classifieds a long time ago.

wish i had your dilimas. wow, and that last bike. must have been a sleepless night after seeing all those bikes. get them all if you can, i would and then my wife wouldn't see me for a few weeks (hahaha  )

The chainguard is a Wald replacement guard. I have one currently - it was on my Elvis RRBBO bike and I had two more, both which i sold on the bay about 2 years ago. They are very cool deco style from the 40's and 50's. The ones with the reflector (mine does not have one) may have been supplied to manufacturers to put on their bikes by Wald. My .02

Thanks, Joe

I often see bikes on ebay and wonder the same thing, especially girls bikes for some reason. But I've gotten pretty good at spoke counting! Usually I can count halfway around, should be 18 for 26", and 14 for 24", generally speaking. I could ask the seller of course, but I usually only look at items that are ending soon. ~Adam
