Re: The Spacey Flighty Linery thingy.
ok guys, i got some stuff done today.
got both bikes taken completely apart.
i have all my parts picked out to use from these two bikes.
there are a couple of unknowns. big unknowns though.
1. what handlebars to use. normal cruiser bars just wont do it for this one.
2. what tires to use. since i flipped the rat trap, the front fender wont work too well. i am not sure if i will keep the rear fender.
i am pretty sure i can make 2.125s fit with the fender. not totally sure. i know 2.35s wont work.
stuff i am definitely using.
1. bendix 2 speed automatic. this one is laced to a chrome drop center. i have one to match for the front.
2. the flipped rat trap springer!
3. excel pedals. these are in great shape, but i love this type, and they are wiecked expensive on the bay.
4. original crank and murray chainguard
5. the frame from the second bike pictured above.
6. original troxel liner seat.
7. light for under the rear rack. delta. this one is non working. needs new guts. i am thinking LED conversion and a new toggle switch
8. rear rack from second bike above.
9. flightliner chainguard.
10. sears tank. the horn unit is in good shape. lens is intact. gotta rework the lights.
i have some kenda flames coming. couldnt pass up the $4 deal. gonna try em out when they arrive to see how they look.
other than that the only tires i have are some 1.75" whitewalls. i think i need thicker ones for this build.
seeing joeys "flight of the navigator" inspiration got me thinking about space movies i really dug as a kid.
one stands out.
Explorers. one of the other movies i had taped from tv as a kid.
they build a ratrod spaceship out of part of a tiltawhirl and some other junkyard parts.
i am gonna watch the movie again and get some inspiration.
