Today I was able to attach the mounting brackets to the exhaust pipes with a special metal glue from work. Now the next step is drilling holes in the tank and exhaust to test mount them. I also took the front fork to the local welding shop and we pressed it in the centre till it was straight again. My stencils for the graphics were supposed to be done today but he has been quite busy, I hope that He can get them done in time. I am giving my self next week to get primer body work and paint done because we leave for a 10 day trip after that. That way It has 10 days to properly cure, so I can assemble it when I get back. So finishing this project in time is up in the air. I wish we could have one more week to complete the builds then I would have no problem making deadline.
On a positive note I have been emailing a local artist who also does pinstripe work. His name is Peter Tetrault. He said he would pin stripe some stuff on the bike but It probably will happen after the competition. But I am excited for it!
Today I was able to mock up the exhaust and tank. Now I am ready for primer!

I have been looking at it in the bare steel and really am liking that look! But I want to stick to my original plan on this one for color scheme. If I can get a similar frame as this again I will do something with a clear powder coated steel frame I have been planing it while building this one.

Today we were at my wife's grand parents for a family gathering and I scored a vintage double bar CCM mens bike from him it was sitting in their barn. So I guess you could call it a barn find! The condition: every thing operates smoothly just needs air in the tires. This was her grand fathers bike so that is pretty special. When I asked about the bike, he asked if I wanted to have it and I offered to pay for it and he would not let me he just said I could have it! I asked how old it was and he replied that they bought it a long time ago used. The uncles remember riding it too! I did some research and it appears that this ccm is a 1931 model so that is pretty exciting that it is so vintage.

Today I Epoxy Primed the bike! So Next step is smoothing out the fenders with some body filler and then I can Paint!

Today I did some more work on the bike. I Primed again with a high build primer and sanded out some of the imperfections. The fenders still need to be filled and block sanded yet but every thing else should be ready for paint. So If I have time in between packing for vacation tomorrow the forks frame and tank should have paint on them! Other wise it will have to wait for 10 days till I get back and I will be cutting it close.
Looking forward to seeing it with paint on!

Just got the base coat on the bike and it looks sweet!

I went with an antique Ford Model A type color. I had done some google research to see what hot rods with red oxide primer looked like and they were cool. But then I started seeing traditional hot rod Deuce coupes in grey with red rims and I knew right away that is the color scheme I want on my bike!

Last night it was about 1 in the morning when I went inside from painting the tank on my bike. Once I get into something I can get lost in time on it! Well here is how one of the tank sides turned out and I am very happy with how it went.
So I had a bunch of left over paint from my own cars so I did not have to buy any paint for this and the colors were exactly perfect for this tank. So the sheet steel was first primed the other day with epoxy primer so it will not rust. Then I applied the E4 red (Ford Focus and Escort Color) where the Road Master stencil will be applied I also masked of the exhaust and painted the inside of it the same red:

Then Some black base coat (used also on my Ford Ranger):
Next I masked off the checker pattern:
The White was shot (Ford Performance White used on my Ford Contour) and unmasked:

Just for curiosity I placed the exhaust on the tank (they still need to be unmasked so you can see the stainless:
So now I just have to finish painting the white on the other half and clear it which should be happening after work today.
Wow! That will really make the bike pop!
