I added the new brakes and got it all dialed in. The front brake shoes aren't side by side, one is farther ahead. Maybe it's a manufacturing flaw?

I thought the arms were reversed, but the rear brake is the same way and both pads are in line. But it works fine.

So I went out for a ride. The gear ratio is good, higher than a normal single speed, but the bike is light and has skinny tires so going back up the incline home was ok.

After reading some recent posts I figured I should wear a helmet every time I ride now. I picked up a baseball cap helmet. I think the liner is from a hard hat, it's pliable plastic but looks like a regular ballcap with a chin strap.

The red frame just showed up as I got back home. I think these were so cheap because they had a couple scratches on them and couldn't be sold for full price.

New parts and some old are adding up. This one will be a 700C bike.

I took it out for a ride this morning and it's good! This is a gravel bike.
The SA kickback works great and the gearing is just right. I like this one the best of the three bikes, but they all are good.
My only complaint is the headset, I can't get the last tiny bit of play out of it. But I'm new to those headsets so I'll research further to see what I might be doing wrong.

We used have similar gear at the warehouse, it was called a "bump cap". It was to protect from small impacts, when you bump your head on something you should have ducked under. Not quite as good as a helmet, but better than nothing

I've wondered about those for some time. How do you like it?

It's the same as a regular bike helmet but can be worn everywhere and looks like you're just riding with a ballcap. The look of a bike helmet is what deters a lot of people from wearing one.
