I had an uncle who traveled with a carnival in the 1920's riding his Indian motorcycle in one of these bowls. I have a photo of him and a bunch of other guys on motorcycles on a Goodyear tire sponsored Gypsy tour. When he started courting my aunt (my Mom's sister), my grandparents forbid them to see each other because all he had was his Indian and the clothes on his back. My Mom worked at the post office and passed notes back and forth between them.
