While my Batavus frame is still at the blaster/welder place, I found a Burco "opafiets"!!

It's probably an '50s "opafiets" (Grandpa's bicycle).
The brand is Burco, from Amsterdam.
I'm really stoked with this "path racer" fever, so I made some changes and now it's called "Opa Racer"..

The Batavus bike is becoming a serious resto with some expensive parts like wooden rims, so this "Opa Racer" is going to be my local cruiser/ city bike..

Hope you like it
Cheers!

Thanks!

This is a mock-up, it will get new wheels and tires.
The handlebar is Photoshop, so I have to find something like that.
The saddle is the one for my Batavus project, it's a pre-war racer saddle from France (Sylvia).
I putted it on this bike, just see how it would look.

See ya next time

Collecting parts from small bikeshops in, and around Amsterdam.
The racepedals came from an antique bicycle restorer: antiekefietsen.nl

Brilliant and simple, I like your style.
This right here is my kind of build, keep doing it!!
(Love those white tires  )

Just ask your local "fietsenmakertje".
Especially the ones who are there for a long time, thats how I got mine..
There's one for sale on Marktplaats.

Nice and clean...... :D
How about some stats on that frame and all?
BTW, I was just paging through a 'coffee table' bike book at Barnes & Noble, it is full of very artty bikes, real machines though, and I was taken by some vintage curvy French handlebars; Velo Orange has them in the Porteur and Postino (one has a tad bit of rise, the other no). Very retro classic.....IMHO.

Thanks!

Velo Orange has some nice retro stuff!
What do you mean with "stats", measurements kinda info?
I don't know alot about the frame, the only thing I know that it is a Burco "model speciaal" with framenr. B28133
Still has to do some research. It can be from the early '50s, but it can also be from the '70s.
Burco build these bikes for a long time, with minimal changes.

The 'normal' stuff, wheelbase, BB above the ground at center, BB drop from axle line, seattube height and toptube length; stuff to compare it to, say, the Raleigh DL-1 and Sports, etc.
 I just HAD to order that Porteur bar for my BSA after posting the above VO mssg to you.......

Ah! Thats a lot of math for me  :D

....And than from cm to inch.
I'll keep in touch
