I have a pair of rims that are badly pitted. I could prime them 10 times and not fill the pits. As soft and nice as it is, straight glazing putty is too thick. It builds too much for this. I was thinking of thinning the putty with lacquer thinner but have never tried. Anyone successful trying this?

what kind of glaze are you using?
if you want glaze that is super thin and just basically drips off your spreader try this stuff(personally i hated that stuff)

theres a reason only one shop i was at used the dolphin glaze(it was really cheap )

also have you tried just putting some on with a razor blade just in the pits and then sanding it down until its flat? remember its glaze......you dont want it on over 1/16" thick

Ha, I use Dolphin. I tried a little last night and thinned it but then it was too thin. I guess this is just going to be a wasteful, tedious job. Yeah, too pitted for primer only. I like the razor blade suggestion though. Thanks!

They make this product called Nitro Stan. It is used to fill in spots on bondo. It sticks to paint...bondo...metal. Gets hard in 15 minutes...no mixing. Its red and comes in a big tube. I use it on every build. Its like toothpast that is primer I think.

Oh, I remember that stuff! My dad did some bodywork back in the early 80s, old school style, and he had a gallon of the stuff! Use it outside, fumiest goop ever! Works though. ~Adam
