It's been a pretty good month overall. Seems the ladies are srangely attrated to me  , It ballances out in the end though, you'll see...

Started with this ladies Columbia tank bike: cheap yardsale score. Good teal color should clean up and re-sell well.

Then my father in law picked up three more ladies bikes. Two "were" Vista cruisers, 5 speeds. but they were both stripped for parts right off the bat. Sourced a nice set of skinny fenders, two good forks, cranks, pedals, messenger saddles, bars and one nice pair of rootbeer color metalflake grips.
The third bike was this Sam-Sco balooner. house paint black over forest green, nice brass badge, fork is bent but the rear rack is decent and has a nice reflector, tear drop pedals (pulled them already), New Departure hubs and decent rims. Fenders are ok too, set up for skirt guard lacing at the back. Not sure if this is a parts bike or sell as a whole bike....

Barn find Wards Hawthorne, 24" on an exercizer. Skiptooth and missing a few parts, but the badge, chrome and wheels are nice. Parts Qween!

Took a trip down into Danimal's territory and picked up two bikes. First, another one of these Elgin ladies bike, its all there, good wheels and tin, peaked fenders, skiptooth drive, and cool laid back seat tube. This makes the third one of these to pass through my hands.

Finned Elgin scripted hubs front and back.

And at last a mens bike to ballance out all the estrogen in the shed! Mens, Columbia Five Star Superb :!: :!: :!:
Complete less the light that mounts under the rear rack. I think this one will get the full restoration treatment. The rear rack needs a minor weld repair, otherwise it's all there.

Locking springer with key!

All the tin is in great condition, the tank and light are dent free.

So that wraps it up. I've got a pretty good haul of parts bikes, and a couple of flippers and one nice keeper.

I really just can't get over that Columbia. I had to come and take a second look. :D What a sweet find...

It's odd that the bars and tank still have a lot of really bright chrome? I wonder why that is.

Way to score Walker! From what I can see a nearly 100% complete 5 star specimen! The rack light is easy to find on the bay. I have a friend that has them repro and possibly nos. The seat is a girls but again an easy find. I cant wait to see it get restored. Just let me know if you have any questions on the 5 star. Here is a picture of mine and I threw in the 3 star deluxe for comparison purposes. Last, let me know if you need a bunch of pics of mine to help with your restore. Good for you bro!

Glen, you know its funny, when i was doing the google thing to research what i had, i came across your's, and right away though "great, I'll be hitting him up!" I'm going to check with a guy about chrome cost, and not sure how to re-create the lettering (stencil?, water transfer?). I might take you up on the rack light, unless someone has one to trade with me.

Chris, i've got a feeling this bike was pretty well cared for until the not too distant past, it probably was in the weather but maybe not in the direct sun or something.

The full story on the Columbia and Elgin is pretty funny.
I responded to a CL ad while visiting the inlaws in New Ipswich. The people had the bikes still and said i could stop by on my way through that night, around 8:30 (as in 8:30, dark, PM). They said i should pull up behind the house because the bikes were near the barn. OK i think as i pull up.

The guy is there grilling something, he says, just keep going up the driveway up behind the barn...then he grabs his rifle

BTW: I've got my two boys with me, 2yrs old and 4 years old.

I follow the guy and as i get out of the car, at a distance, he says "don't be freaked out about the gun, we've got an animal issue". I'm thinking, animal as in animal or animal as in homosapien??

I tell him i am little freaked out and he is kind of miffed, so i come right out and say "uh, craiglist murders ring a bell? I've got my kids in the car". he is like, Oh man i'm really sorry and he parks the rifle off to the side. Turns out his old lady saw what she thought was a cougar or mt lion the night before.

All's well that ends well. they turned out to be nice folks, antique dealers..(he collects cap guns, go figure)

I bet MLC has the decals you need- probably water transfer, which seems to look pretty authentic.

I would say that's probably true- quite a solid bike, definitely begging for a resto! :D

The full story really made me laugh so hard. Thanks for sharing.

great story Walker. Go with the water transfer for sure. Just be sure to get the correct ones as there are tons of combinations. Let me know when you are ready and I will snap some pics of all the decals for you. If you just went to my sight you would have found the 5 star even easier!!!! :x lol
