Last weekend, while visiting back home in farm country Wisconsin, I placed a want ad on the local radio station's Saturday Shopper Show asking for an older cruiser style bike. My ad had just been read when the phone started to ring. There were 6 calls in about 15 minutes, and I decided to look at 5 of them. I ended up with three to bring home.
The first turned out to be an all original 1968 Scwhinn Typhoon that I purchased from the 70 year old original owner. He had bought it at the Gambles Hdwr store in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, my home town. Get a load of the tassels.
This beauty came out of a shed in Muscoda, WI. The caller's description of the springer fork got me curious, and I couldn't resist. The head badge/sticker is gone, and the only remnant of paint is found on the lower front forks. The license sticker is from 1962, but there is an unreadable sticker below it. I'm guessing that it is an old JC Higgins, but I can't be sure. Any help with the I.D. would be appreciated.
The third is a Western Flyer in need of some TLC. According to the owner, his older brother was original owner, making it late 60s/early 70s. The front fender appears to have been cropped, and the wheels don't match, but he price was right, so I picked it up.
