I guess these are a little more desirable for us Cheeseheads( Canadians ) but none the less it's a really cool bike.

It's a 1951 CCM
Balloon Tire
3 Speed Sturmey Archer with
Lever Brakes...how cool is that.

Immmaaa gonna have fun with this one!

peace,
Kev.

I have no idea what the Rear 3 speed Lever action Hub / Brake is worth....
or the front lever action hub for that matter...
If anyone knows let me know..either way it's a Ratty as all Hell and I love it!

thats pretty sweet just the way it is...

I think so myself Markm...
maybe some new Ballon tires..a piece of Jersey Cow Hyde on the seat pan...and some NOS White Pop Bottle Grips.

Just some Brasso / 0000 Steel Whool and elbow grease will do the trick for the rest of this bike..for now.

The wheels,Cranks, and frame are as straight
as an Arrow.....like I said.."this one will be FUN"..
now I'm on a path to learn about Lever brakes....

Man I love this Hobby!

peace,
Kev.

:) Cool bike "pin'n , but I don't know if you will

find ballon tires for those rims

:) Some of those ccm's have a canadian specailty
tire, even different than the british 26".

The canadian size can be 26x1 1/2- 571 rim bead
26x1 1/2- 584 " " " "

standard 26x1.75/2.125 has 559 mm rim bead.

nice ride

were you pick that up its sweet i was over in your stompin grounds today pickin up a new chopper bik for the kid i didnt have you # on me to call you

:D According to my books,26x2x1 3/4 is canadian size

this has a rim bead size of 571mm and standard 26" are 559 mm.

If you take an old MB tire (559mm) and try it on your ccm

rim that should tell us.

Good Luck, Vroom!

Cool find there Clothespin - especially with those hubs.

I have no idea what the Rear 3 speed Lever action Hub / Brake is worth

A few months back I picked up a set hubs indentical to yours for ~$40

Sheldon Browns Sturmey-Archer page is a good starting point for info about your hubs:

http://www.sheldonbrown.com/sturmey-archer.html

The CCM in my shed has the 28 x 1 1/2 size, so the 26 x 1 3/4 tire size is new to me also

No surprises here, Sheldon Brown also has info on some of the more obscure tire sizes out there:

http://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html#fraction

I also have those hubs on my Triumph and like your
CCM MP they are on 28" rims with 32 spoke on the front
and 40 on the rear. MP if you need tires for your 28"
rims they are the same as modern 700c (622mm).
They do have a similar look don't they?

Cool Vroom...what year is the Triumph?

Funny you posted the Sheldon Brown Tire page
( thanks for that ),cause I spent 1/2 an hour
reading that page last night after stumblin on it.
It's pretty informative..

as well,my tire size is 26 by 1 3/4-2
I found a seller on E Bay that has these
....as he advertises...very hard to find size,

I'll think I'll get em.I havta get the rubber
on this thing so I can tune it up properly.
thanks for the help Vroom,
Kev.

here's the link to that oversized size..

Tires 26 by 1 3/4-2 in size

Although it looks alot older the wheels date it
to a "'69er" 8)

You can put 26 balloon or mtb rims on this CCM. The only problem will be with the width of the tire. I have done this on a light weight frames and have been limited to 1.5 inch wide tires. Also, I've ran a similar hub for 5 000 miles and I can tell you that those drum brakes are not the best if you want to brake without planning ahead! That hub was a 1951 NOS and the pads were brand new, gives you an idea of how bad it is. Very nice find my fellow canuck.

and I sold it already to a friend who collects CCM's

He has a PRISTINE 1947 Zenith( which I believe is CCM as well )
and he wants this one as a "Ridder around towner"

I sold it for what I payed for it.......
and it's gone to a nice boy on a Farm that will
let it run the way it should. :D
