TPI for Schwinn nuts?

If I wanted to replace the front axle nuts off a Schwinn script hub from the 60's-70's what size nut do I look for? Something tells me it isn't standard size from lowes.

They are metric. 7mm IIRC. You can get them at ACE hardware. The external size of the nut is a little smaller than original Schwinn but they will work fine. Take your axle to ACE with you to be sure of the size. Gary
