Try to explain why old is better..to my daughter

These darn kids these days, I end up dragging crap or to be politically correct, recyclable bike parts and everytime I have something pink, with two wheels on it, my daughter lays claim. Oh, that reminds me of a funny bike story!

My neighbor down the street threw together a ratty 20" with a springer that I thought was pretty cool, but his 5 year old daughter said;

"That's soooooo embarrassing", I was on ground laughing!

I made up a StingRay from parts for my nephew. He saw it, rode it, and then told me the "mud guards", ape hangers, and banana seat "just have to go". I hung it up in the barn and told him to get his own bike. Gary

Just give it to her, like most kids after they get what they want, they'll neglect it and forget about it. Then keep giving the same bike back with a different seat, handlebars etc. :wink:

She actually just graduated from a 12 inch wheeled Mongoose "Butterfly Summer" to a 16 inch wheeled HUFAMURANEXT Princess Pink Dress Tinkerbell something or other, but I optioned it out with streamers, liscence plate ,basket , hand brake for the front,bell,and spinning flowers for the ends of the bars.I guess I cant complain too much....its not like I ever would buy a bike like that, I just keep building freebees :wink: ...for now....

Maybe you should show her prices on Ebay and CL to get your point across. Maybe if she can see it from someone besides dear ol' Dad, she'll understand?

I have seen that look before. My daughter would throw that look at me and say, "ya wanta see my bad eyes?" Well that meant the decision had been made, live with it.

You have lost the battle, but don't give up. One day she will come over to your side. Just let her see a young man of her age on an old crusty schwinn.
