I've been inspired by all the recent posting of cool retro TT bikes on the site. So I've decided to have a go at building one.

I had this cro mo Apollo in the frame pile, destined to become a tube donor.

Chop chop

New forks in place. Much shorter steer tube.

New top tube welded in place.

Mock up with 700c rear, 26" front

chopped a set of drop bars. Next step is to add a stem of some description to the forks, per the above inspiration.

Thanks for the positive feedback all. The frame chop was pretty straight forward, and went smoothly. Think it'll take as long or longer to sort the fork, as it did to do the frame mod.

Love the chop chop! even the bars get the chop chop! nice work on the frame!

Got a chance today to play with the forks. Cutting up and welding on an old stem.

Assembled with 700c front and rear.

Dug an old leather saddle from the parts pile.
Time to work up some courage for a test ride now.

Looks fast and mean. And not overly comfy.

It is no where near as sketchy as i thought it would be to ride. It does squish the ol plum's a bit though

The bike does have a purple hue to it, maybe a new name for this build might be 'Plum Crazy' ?

Will you be changing the drive train out? The triple chain ring crank just doesn't look right with all your other cool TT mods. Nice work on the stem / fork mount! This is coming together well!

Am Considering a single speed conversion for it.
But also tossing up a 1 by set up. Single up front, keep the gears out back
