Tubing sizes

I'm thinking about building a frame, but I'm curious of what size tubing to use. If I were to use square tubing, what would be a good size to use? If I were to use round tube, what would be a good size to use?

I like to use 1" tubing. Some use up to 1 1/2", but 1" is easy to work with, yet strong enough to hold shape.

It varries on what look you are going for. Anywhere from 1" - 2" is good. Just remember one thing though, square tube is weaker than round so when I use square I like to double my wall thickness(probably overkill but I want my customers to be safe :wink: ). *Feel free to pm me if you like I'll answer anything I can.

I called my local metal shop earlier. I can get 24 foot of round tube, 14 gauge for $15.60
Would 14 gauge be ok for a frame?

That's thicker than 16, not thinner, so yeah, it might be a bit heavy, but it'll hold up great.

For me, 1" tubing is about a buck a foot.
