I finally finished my first bike and had SO much fun! The bike is about 70 years old and I got it on craigslist but it was UGLY when I brought it home and needed some work. Now, it's really a Girly Bike lol

It's got a subtle theme some may like, some may hate and maybe some may like in an ironic kind of way... let me know what you think!

I originally planned on whitewalls but I had these and thought it might be overkill. I would like fatter tires but I dont' want to spend anymore $$ lol I'm already looking for a new bike to play with (DH is not happy!) I do want to get a red reflector for the back fender. maybe some cool valve caps?

All the white parts are super sparkly (just like you-know-who)

Do I Dazzle You? (this makes me chuckle like a fool!)

I may order a mini-license plate for the back...Washington of course! I wouldn't want to cover up those cool seat springs though, hmmm...

yep, that's an apple (from the craft store)

Aren't those hand grips kind of perfect?

This is how it looked when I picked it up, I loved the skirt guards but that color is horrible!

Oh, so it's a Blond bike!
Just teasin, that is a sweet ride. I love those fender skirts!!!!!

A beautiful job! What is that sparkly finish? I keep telling these guys: step- throughs aren't just for parts anymore. A word of warning - rattin' is addictive (and a lot of fun!). I personally feel the bike ain't done til you add the right valve stem caps. I believe they make white, sparkle dice caps. Great build!

Thanks Elmer :D The sparkle finish turned into a craftastic glitter-pocolypse. I don't know if the garage will ever be the same! i started with a flat white base (i think krylon anti-rust whatever) then i got an indoor/outdoor glitter paint that I planned to do multiple coats of, then a clearcoat. Well, the glitter paint was more like a subtle glimmer and I wanted blingy sparkle so I had a big bag of this holographic micro glitter handy (from the day job: http://www.enchantedwhimsies.com , that's me!) I poured the glitter on to the wet paint, flipped the bike and repeated, then a hand applied clear coat (2x) It worked out pretty well, I got exactly the look i wanted.

Still torn on the white walls...and I would love an old dropstand, cooler pedals (torrington jewel pedals or more realistically magna teardrops w/red reflectors) maybe a badge or sticker for the front, some valve caps - maybe stars? Is a project ever done??

You can make your own jeweled pedals:

As nice as you made that bike, the pedals should be easy!

And...

"...so I had a big bag of this holographic micro glitter handy..."

That probably isn't something you get to say very often.

thanks.yes, that's a great tutorial. i tried my similar idea and it was awful lol So i will probably do that once I find the right beads. I do like those teardrop pedals too though. they aren't too expensive and I think they'd be fitting

as far as the big bag 'o glitter... it's more common around here than you'd think

Someone on my pedal how-to mentioned those beads I had are called "cabochons." That made it easy to find them.

that was me :)

Here's some that look exactly like what I had:

The teardrop pedals would probably look good on that bike. They would fit the style.

thanks for the link, yeah - right now I am excited to ride it. i saw the teardrop pedals for 30 bux on ebay. I probably won't do anything with it for a little while then I'll do the little details
