My suggestion leave it as is, make it a fixie, and post your new build pics on the bmx collector sites just to irritate them.

That would be hilarious, reminds me of some of the kids who would show up at our paintball forums with some rare brass beauty wondering if they should cut the wood stock off of it... the entire forum would just erupt!

My question
Im moving to Knoxville Tn to help a bud plant a church, im wanting to get into the MTB scene. I was looking at getting a SS 29er.
1. Do yall think this frame would hold up to the punishment- (I might be sounding like that kid I mentioned )
2. Or should this find be restored and polished with a diaper every night?

I cannot attest to the durability of the bike. What I do know is that it is YOUR bike. If you want to use it to make some quick cash to buy the bike you want, then sell it. If you don't care about the value of the bike then build it how you want and ride it with a big grin on your face. Let the purist cry.

If it WAS mine, I would sell it to finance my other builds. But I am not interested in mountain biking, bmx, or early 80's bikes in general.

That Kos Cruiser frame/fork will survive small thermonuclear weapons. Those Bullseye Hubs are nearly as tough. Note that the frame is cro-mo, so only a qualified welder should add posts for V-brakes, if you are so inclined. I raced one of those frames for YEARS in the '80s, and beat the living crap out of it doing dirt jump tricks. It never bent.

If you wanna sell that seat-Lemme know!

I bought two schwinn saddles. One is the glitter red with white stripes, The other is gloss padded black with chrome stripes. I got them both on ebay for under 12 I think. I actually bought awhile back before I got back into bicycles, I told my wife I wanted them because they were sweet looking.
Awesome man!

I sadly sold my last schwinn stinger seat...It wasnt sparkly though

While it will most likely survive the offroading...it`s probably not the way to go. Modern Mountain bikes have come a LONG way from those days, and are vastly superior in virtually every aspect of riding. It will however, BUY you a pretty damned nice new bike! :)
