Thanks @OddJob!
Now I've done a "Barefoot" and a "Boot"
I've got a few leftover kickstands and I'm planning on making a few with carved steel ends on them to bring to local shows for swappage... The barefoot was a hit last year at rides. My oldest boy came up with the idea, he also thought of a flipflop/sandel for the beach cruisers. I think a tennis shoe might be fun as well as a three toed tripod type alien foot (oh on a swivel ball bearing...hmm) Yeah the possibilities are only limited by my ability to carve them with bench & hand grinders...

I rode it just a bit tonight.
I have a punchlist in my head that I can manage with a couple "wants" thrown in.

so I cut the length down on my seat post. I bent the longer one sitting on it. Maybe I should've used the real leaf spring, but I used two layers of steel to look like a leaf spring and bent it just past the shorter leaf.

I'll get some better pictures tomorrow...
The list...
Paint seatpost
New crank bearings
Finalize stem
Epoxy handlebar extensions
1/4-20 setscrew for boot
and
a shifter which I don't have
and
a big fat rear fender
which I also don't have.

Great lines and angles going on.
Love da bootstand!

Well I can't even leave my mods alone. I've swapped out the core of my handlebars for a set of Wald 867's. They're taller and wider, and I went with a matching Wald stem. The vintage Schwinn stem was nice but the leverage of these big bars made it rock inside the clamping area. Add a wider bar to the mix and you'll need some stability over vintage. I also picked up a setscrew for the boot so that's done... Went for another ride and I'll say I need to get a shifter for sure, 3rd gear is stout with the fat tire, regardless of how light the frame is.

It's either a tiny bike or some BIG fingers...

Digging thru my parts inventory in my head
cuz it's chilly in the garage and I'm warm in the house...
I'm pretty sure I have a speedometer with cable and spinner. I also have a thumb shifter I can probably mod, along with a small bullet headlight. I do have a ratty piece of a fat fender left... and a couple pieces of plexiglass. So, where's that punch list? Hmm, bearings yeah I got those too.

Carl.

Ok. So in the past, I've changed my mind often during the build offs and wavered back and forth between colors and details, and this build seems no different. It's the gold, I don't like it. The original idea to anodize the tubes changed into a color choice that is okay...
But just ok isn't good enough. I'm taking it back to classic black. As shiny as it is, this is still a rat at heart. It could be polished more and if I had the cash it's restore-able even.
But that's not my style.
Instead, I laced an old 3 speed coaster to a modern 57mm rim. I mated parts of a Monark style springer to a landing gear fork, and I've stretched my bars to reach back to the laid back seatpost. This isn't just ok to me. It's gotta have that "look" and gold ain't gettin' it there.
I'll getcha' some pics soon, needless to say, it's up on blocks in the garage. I'm tearing it down.

So I've revamped the old chicken foot shifter just so I can get into the easier gears. As light as the frame is, 3rd gear is still pretty tall with the big aluminum sprocket in front. But I only have two thumb shifters for the old Shimano 3 speed coaster hub. No, I'm not doin' that. So I rebent the shifter stalk I had bent to match Cycledelics handle bars, to match the angles here. So for now I have a suicide shifter for Tyranny & Mutation.

I like the changes to the bars and grips.
That shifter is pretty snazzy too.
Watch yourself as you slide off of your seat though!! :D
I just realized that your build title says that you have a 36 Foot Silver King. Are you competing with the King Krate for biggest build? :D

Haha, silly me. I always mess that abbreviation up. Although, eventually I will be competing with the King Krate, it won't be for size...
