On the way home today I stopped by a friends house who lives in our neighborhood .
He was putting in a clutch on his BMW ..good thing he was finished...
We start talking for a few minutes and I start looking around and I spot this Schwinn leaning on a tree
by the road..I ask whats up with it.. he says what bike.. I point and say that one..he says take it ..
Enough said on the rack it goes..Has a nice bunch of equipment on it..700 wheel set .No seat and post and pedals....Is this a High plains model..? oh had a bike with blue bar tape on it ..Not any more..LOL

high plains is an old mountain bike frame, looks like they converted it to some kind of "cyclocross/touring" bike, if you part it out let me know how much for those end bar shifters, looking for a set for an old touring bike I have.

Sorry I would like to use the bar shifters on a different project..Heck the bars too..LOL
This is my first find with bar shifters..and I have found some very very high end road bikes..!

It's a Japanese Schwinn, there will be a 4 digit code stamped lightly on the head badge that will tell you the date and year it was manufactured Example 0164 would be the 16th day of the year january 16th, 4 would be the last digit of the year 1974 1984 1994, then you can check out the catalogs to see what model it is. Catalogs are here:

Thanks O/C to dark out now to look and to beat..Dinner and hmm not to sure yet..LOL

Not a High Plains. High Plains had a 26 inch wheelset and this has 700 C if the 700 were added the brake studs wouldn't line up. Looks like a 89-95 schwinn Passage or Maybe a Voyager. It is a touring bike. With a new paint job it should be worth a good chunk on ebay. Nice Find, Matt

The 700C wheels look like a pretty good fit. This might be a Schwinn Hybrid from 1990-1992. The Crisscross and Crosscut had lugged frames and unicrown forks. Some were made in Greenville and others came from Taiwan.
