It's the new postal rates that are up, up, and away! Went to the PO with a box of parts for biss-ness yesterday. Chain ring, neck, a pair of pedals and all bearings, cups, cones and etc. Not a big box at all...square and not oversize. $10.50! Also sent a ND hub to Las Vegas in an even smaller box and it was $9.50 something first class. I sent it parcel post for $8.70 something. They said on the news the price of a stamp went from $0.42 to $0.44 yesterday. What they didn't tell us is the jump parcels took. Parts sellers...hang on to your aerostruts 'cause shipping looks like it's going to get real pricey in the future. The PO is now jacking up the prices every May. Gary

I miss DHL. They were cheap, a little inconvient but cheap. Wheels across the country were $12-15

stamps will increase .02 every year in may, i suppose the other rates hafta jump too by about 5% to keep up with the stamps

the 10.99 flat rate boxes at the usps are the way to go for something heavy, that fits in the box they give ya, but beyond that, fed-ex express has been the best so far.

I heard a story a while back that FedEx went to the government with a buisness plan that showed they could do what USPS could do more efficiently and cheaper. They were turned down.. I don't know if it's true or not.

They already have here in lakeland,fl. and their gonna close down the main post office and ship everything to tampa and then back to lakeland to be delivered. Tony

Yup, Post Office is getting to be the most expensive option out there, at least for medium to large packages.

True story...I made a trade with a guy on this forum. I sent him a set of 20" wheels, 2 tires, and a banana seat. Sent it UPS from NH to Cali and it cost $18, including tracking (UPS has the best tracking) and insurance. Arrived in like 5 business days.

When he got the parts, he used the same box and sent me a pair of 20" wheels and 2 small fenders. He used the Post Office and sent it Parcel Post with just delivery confirmation. That took over 2 WEEKS to get here and it cost $28!!! What the???

So yeah, I'm pretty much done with USPS. They are getting greedy or something.

Dan

Dingo- DHL is not doing business inside the USA anymore. They are still around but only for shipments going international.
