I would like to find out from as many people as i can what used men's bicycle is the cheapest and most abundant in the area you live
I am compiling this list for a possible build off idea or ratrod bike community project

For example in Southern California it seems to be the Murray monterey (same as the Murray westport)
as well as the huffy cranbrook

Bike model and your city/state is mainly what i'm looking for

Huffy Cranbrook. O.c.c. choppers.
But there is a great variety of good quality bikes within , about 100 miles, Tampa to Ft. Myers is less for me.
Seeing a lot of Electra bikes also.

Savannah
Most of what shows is are Next suspension bikes.
Lately though the most common type of bike are 60-70s vintage ladies 3 speed city bikes.

San Diego CA, absolute garbage.

Western Auto Murray's, 70's thru 80's. They are everywhere! And so many around here think they are antiques and classics.

"I've got an old, old, bike behind the barn. It's got to be worth a lot"

Oh if I had a dollar for every time I've heard that!!!!!

Other than the NExt Wally world junk, you don't see many used quality bikes. CHEEEEEP Suspension mountain bikes that haven't gone to the scrap yard end up at the Goodwill store eventually. An occasional Schwinn girl's bike might pop up in a farm sale but the really good old stuff is long gone. I fear most of them have been shredded at the scrap mill. I have yet to see anyone roll a Cranbrook off the Walmart rack, one Walmart I have been patronizing has had the same girl's Cranbrook on clearance all month at $84, with the Men's version at full price near $100.

ok I am getting a good list so far
but lets see if we can keep them coming
so far it looks like the murray and cranbrook are the main bike
but a lot of next mountain bikes (didn't expect that one but i should have)

I buy and sell used bikes in The Tampa bay area daily and the cheapest most abundant bikes are 24in mountain bikes. I have six right now and can buy them all day for 10 to forty dollars. But it takes forever to sell them. I only buy them for 10.00 or less the other day I got 2 next and a trek 220 for 10.00 3.33 a bike.

cheapest? - 20 inch kids bikes of almost any brand. Can't give them away, especially if smaller than 20 inch wheels.

But, I assume you want to know about adult sized bikes.
Box Store bikes, but some older Treks and Specialized are beginning to show up at reasonable vs original price.

How things have changed. I remember when the most common bikes around here were Chicago Schwinns. Cheap mtn bikes are now most common. Gary

Same as Savannah. Dept store mountain bikes and lady's light weight 3 spd cruisers. The dept store cruisers, like Crannies, tend to sell (used) for close to retail price here if kept in decent condition. Some of the dept store suspension bikes sell so cheap on CL that I'm tempted to get one and give it the banana bike treatment. They are not as prevalent as the hard tails.
-There seem to be more recumbents on CL lately too: probably related to the space required to store a nice long recumbent bike or trike. This windy, flat region is well suited to recumbent riding.
-Used low end ebikes are really cheap on CL too. New buyers expect more than those bargain ebikes can deliver. I use one of those cheapo ebike kits when commuting to help accelerate me away from stop lights. The SLA batteries are adequate when used for "assist".
-There are always some newly built two stroke powered cruisers or mountain bikes on CL too but you don't see many used ones.
-They want big bucks for vintage muscle bikes.
