I saw this posted this morning on the local c-list:
http://rochester.craigslist.org/bik/3209087679.html

Now, I've had in the back of my mind for a while that I'd like to pick up a Schwinn trike for a project, but it isn't anything that I'm looking to do immediately. But it anycase, this Town & Country looks to be in good shape, but I'd still think the price is high. What would be fair for something like this, generally? I don't think that I'm planning on checking into it or anything, I just want to know where the price range falls, and what I'd have to pay.

200-250 is about average for a nice older all original single speed trike

300-350 seems fair for a 3 speed if it needs nothing, id offer $300 on that one at least

I think that all the trikes I see are overpriced, then I got one and couldn't sell it for a fraction of any other I saw for sale. They are hard to store and not practical on the street. Unless you have a reason and want to ride it all the time, I'd stay away.

Completely agree with that statement, don't just buy one to buy it unless you absolutely want one ... same goes for tandems. The say the happiest 2 days of owning one are the day you get it and the day you sell it

My wife wanted one so we found an old sears for 50 bucks. Two days later we sold it barely able to get our money back. Its like catching a tiger by the tail...then once you catch it.....whatcha gonna do???? That cured us of ever wanting one again.

The rear ends make for good custom material though, Ive thought about building an HPV (Human Powered Vehicle) with one kinda like an old cyclecar but pedal powered.

Dude this makes me feel a lot better about the one that I just picked up. Picked up a 3 speed trike that uses normal hubs on the rear for less than any of the prices you posted, I still thought I overpaid at the time but man! I just really wanted it.
