value of this wheel

I hope you guys can help me out. I'm trying to figure out a value on this wheel. I see the hubs or just the rims for sale all of the time but usually not the complete wheel. It is a Bendix 2spd kickback on a 26" schwinn s-7 rim. The rim has some light scratches but it polishes up nice. Hub works great but the redbands are a bit faded. I'm hoping to sell it to fund another project but I don't know a ton about value on something like this. Schwinn Westwind tire goes with it also,and it's cracked but ridable. Thanks for any help

the s-7 is not a horribly wanted wheel in the world of rats because it is limited in what tires fit as i am sure you know. however having a working kick back does help a lot and that one looks nice. i would say at least 100 i personally would not take less if it were mine.

I 'm one of the rare Rat Rodders that actually likes S-7s. Also' being a hubaholic I'd want to see what the
Bendix's guts looked like.
I'd say $50-$100.

Thanks for your help. It shifts great. If I keep it, Kenda sells an s-7 wide or 2.0 for these. It's closer to a ballooner than the 1 3/4 anyway. It has the whitewall now though, and it was on a rat. Primer red 60's schwinn straightbar. But I went a totally different direction with the bike. This thing did make it one of my frequent choices though since there are a few tough hills around here. If I sell it I will likely include the little socket attachment for disassembly on the drive side, so if a hubaholic gets it they can tear into it properly. Part of me says to just throw it on something and ride it. The chrome is actually better than it looks in the pic. But part of me says $100 or a little better could go a long way , especially with a local show coming in the middle of this month. But you are also right about it not really being a rat thing, might be better for someone with a MW Schwinn. Anyway, I guess now all there is to do is think on it. Thanks again for the help.

I've got the same wheel, except it's a yellow band, and has more corrosion. I've got the widest tire, the 26 x 1 3/4 x 2.0, and it still looks like a 1.75 standard width. It looked too skinny on my balloon tire Schwinn, but it's ok on my middle weight Typhoon. I've been hoping the S-7 rim would give out so I could lace it to a 1.75 rim and put a fat tire on, but it's bulletproof even with the rust.

Thanks. I have been debating on getting that tire, but I figured it wouldn't look much wider. Now I have a testimonial. I'll probably toss this one on the cabe, schwinnbikes, or ebay. There's a somewhat local show coming up 4/16 and I think I can use the cash more than I would use this wheel/tire. If there were more tire options or if I were restoring a Schwinn middleweight I would think differently. Part of me wants to lace this hub to an old ballooner. Or grind every other tooth off and run a skiptooth chain. Would that draw some nasty insults? The thought almost makes it worth it :lol:

bought NOS wheel/red kickback for $115 shipped before and I was tickled pink about it.

PM me if you are serious about this. I have a red band kick back sprocket that's already missing a tooth. Maybe we can trade and you wont be "ruining" a part.

Love those 2 speed kickbacks.
I put them on bike I build for me.
They take a little getting use to, but after while it becomes natural, and there great, no more standing up on the pedals to get the bike moving, start in low gear, get it moving then kickback to high and cruize.
I got several I've not yet used, but I will. Most I have paid is $40, and it was on a Schwinn Breeze. Least I've paid was $2, it also was on a Breeze. Oh wait I did get one free, just for taking away the rusty old Schwinn girls bike the guy didn't sale at his garage sale. Yep, garage sales are where I've bought most of the 2 speed KB bikes, and yes all of them have been girls bikes. But, if you figure the time and gas I spent to find my 2 speeds, I'd probably been better off paying the $100 price for them.
